Bayside Wound Group was established by Karen Wendland and Shelley McIvor in 2012.
With a successful working history, Karen and Shelley decided in 2012 to leave the acute sector and continue their partnership in private practice while specialising in wound care, stoma therapy, breast care and diabetes education.
Karen and Shelley have had a long and passionate interest in providing education in the field of wound and stoma care to health professionals. They have been involved in education in a number of clinical settings both nationally and internationally. The provision of education remains a strong focus of their partnership. Developing education opportunities for health professionals seeking to expand or refresh their understanding of wound and stoma care is an important element of Bayside Wound Group's larger mission.
Together Shelley and Karen regularly engage in professional development activities to improve their own skills and knowledge. These activities include attending national and international conferences, and nurse practitioner forums. They also maintain memberships in Wounds Australia, ADEA, AASTN, and the College of Nurse Practitioners.
