About Us...

Bayside Wound Group was established by Karen Wendland and Shelley McIvor in 2012.
With a successful working history, Karen and Shelley decided in 2012 to left the acute sector where they had worked as clinicians in wound and stoma care, and established a successful outpatient wound clinic. Their partnership continued in private practice offering wound care, stoma therapy, breast care and diabetes education. Their primary motivation was to reduce the length of hospital stay for patients and provide the high standard of care patients required in the safe environment of their own home.
Karen and Shelley have also had a long and passionate interest in providing education in the field of wound and stoma care to health professionals. They have been involved in education in a number of clinical settings both nationally and internationally. The provision of education remains a strong focus of their partnership and they provide education opportunities for health professionals seeking to expand or refresh their understanding of wound and stoma care. This is an important element of Bayside Wound Group's larger mission.
Together Shelley and Karen regularly engage in professional development activities to improve their own skills and knowledge. These activities include attending national and international conferences, and nurse practitioner forums. They maintain memberships in Wounds Australia, ADEA, AASTN, and the College of Nurse Practitioners.
